ONE// While her birth name goes unknown, her real name- a name that belongs to her and her alone- is REINE RACONIAS.
TWO// She does not know her exact age but it is safe to assume that she is no more then 22, but no less then 19. It is also heavily debated if she resides in mortality or not, but allow me to stress that she is perfectly capable of dying.
THREE// Even though her unfeminine figure and distinct face could sometimes be passed off as those of a man, the pirate QUEEN is completely and undeniably female, with all the strengths and weaknesses of the gender.
FOUR// Ah… race, now there is a story in and of itself. Reine likes to believe, no, to hope, that she is human. That would certainly leave her with a little more hope of continuation and eventual ending. She may have a chance at a normal life if she existed in humanity. Whereas, a large portion of Decalage believes she may be demon mainly because of her unnatural eyes and tainted reputation that followed her to piracy. A few, a handful of the wise, the idiotic, and the special know that she is something much more then demon and human. They will not tell the Pirate Queen, though, because they are not sure of their suspicions, and they would not want to alarm the haunted woman.
FIVE// Reine does not put much awareness into her outward appearance. With her life on the line, it is far better to blend into a crowd then to stand out in self-absorbed glory. At least that is her mindset in theory. Truth be turned, Reine’s unique appearance would make it relatively hard to blend in if anyone in Decalage actually knew what she looked like. Thank the Gods for the mortal ignorance.
Standing at five foot five, the Pirate Queen is relatively short, especially compared to the burly men who fill the ranks of pirates (not that every single pirate is a burly man, mind you). She’s thin, but not in the fit, healthy way. Week after week, mercenaries, revenge driven Goddesses, and other forms of pursuers search the continent for her. The little sleep she manages to get, coupled with her own worry, fear, and inability to take time to eat have left her with a weakened body, sickly thin, that has slowly degraded the last few years into a wraith of her former self. She’s always been small, but not she looks brittle and as easy to snap as dried kindling. Because of the loss of weight in such a terrible fashion, her exotic face has become taunter, accenting her high cheekbones and leaving dark circles around her astonishing eyes. Most of the time, she is capable of hiding the skeletal structure of her face with dark kohl around her eyes to accent her eyes. When people are focused on her mesmerizing eyes they rarely notice the fatigue in the rest of her. A strong nose, thin lips, and arched eyebrows compete her expressive face.
Dark colors cover the frame of Reine’s body. She prefers blacks and dark browns, knowing that among commoners and nobles alike the somber colors are less likely to attract attention then bright, festive colors. Darker colors also hold traveling better, collecting the dust and heat of the earth’s elements and secreting the journey in their well-woven fabric. Most of the time Reine wears a simple, loose black tunic draped over her torso. It is usually cut with a v-neck, worn either laced up or allowed to do what it will. It’s billowing waves are belted down with a black or brown belt, well worn and well made, and then flows into just as black loose-fitting breeches tucked into black boots. Against her tanned, sea burned skin the ensemble can be either striking or simple. The loose clothing is worn for several reasons. It allows for freedom of movement, quick changing, and is much more comfortable then a curve-creating dress or other clothes cut for fashion. The large clothing also manages to cover scars, physical ones at least, that could serve to make Reine more recognizable.
There is no doubt that time has taken its toll on the young woman, as shown by her scars and disfigurements. Her hands are, of course, scarred and callused as the hands of any seaman and fighter are. Besides her hands though, Reine has various knife, arrow, burn, and whip marks from various moments through her last 12 years away from the bards and a past that she is not proud of. Even a light rope burn encircles her neck, the mark of a noose long defeated. Her arms and legs are covered with crisscrossed lines and blotched scars, but her back is by far the worst. Scars are not the only things that mark her back. An odd tattoo begins at the base of her spine and curls up across her backs, onto her shoulders, and even manages to encircle her neck at times. If she wore more open clothing one might even speculate that the mysterious mark was growing, and they would be right. The mark itself could be considered a birthmark, existing on Reine when she was found by the bards, wandering through the Evengore. Over the years the mark has slowly gained the appearance of a dragon, it is the same symbol that flies on the black pirate flag and several pirates wear her mark as a sign of allegiance.
But the mark and the scars, are not viewable by others. Reine isn’t known for them. The only thing that could really cause someone to recognize her is her eyes. They are an untendered gold, a molten metallic substance that watch the world from the depths of insanity. Twin suns, golden coins, they are unmistakably hers and hers alone. Her eyes are the ones that sparked the rumors that demons had golden eyes, which is naught but a rumor. You can tell by just looking at the Pirate Queen that she is no soulless demon. A demon could not have the burning emotion that Reine does flow through her melted eyes.
SIX// Now, how can a woman so profound- so different be adequately described by mortality’s words? Every aspect that we consider human nature, from hypocrisy to greed, seems to have taken an awry turn in the creation of a very exceptional soul. To begin, Reine does not simply have one personality, but multiple. This is more of a mental disorder then anything. She has no control over what personality becomes dominant, or what emotion fills her thrice-cursed eyes.
One personality, her most dominant, is that of the Pirate Queen. When the sanest personality is forward Reine is most commonly described as easily amused, sarcastic, and capable of keeping a cool head even when confronted with the most enraging of moments. She’s constantly laughing and joking, but not to the extent of many more boisterous people. Rather, she does her joking and laughing in a subtle manner, which is where her sarcasm comes in. Insults amuse her, but watching people falter when they realize they can say little in return amuses her even more. Her quick mind puts her out of rebuttal range for many normal people. Temper wise, this Reine doesn’t really get angry. Certainly, she is annoyed easily and may say something unwarranted or snappy if you really push her, but she’ll never be caught in the torrents of rage.
Clear-headed in this persona, Reine is also at her most intelligent. Sometimes the mask will slip a little, however, and the ceaseless amusement reveals something darker about this personality, something deeper. The shallowness of mortality is pulled away to reveal the expanse of the pirate’s mind as well as a deep sadness in those molten golden eyes.
Reine’s second personality is the strongest personality, though not necessarily the most dominant. It is the feral part of her, the instinctive, the truly insane (when compared to the rest of the world). When Reine is acting “normal” it isn’t hard to catch a glimpse of it, in her snarls and animalistic sounds it rings undiluted and pure. Bipolar tendencies find their hearth at this personality, causing the unceasing change in emotions that flows through the petite woman. And when the feral mind splits from the sane, rage fills those molten gold eyes and blood lust numbs her tongue. Very few things are capable of provoking this personality to take over. Fear is one of those things, survival another. Those that have seen this personality speculate that love, too, would bring the predator forward. Only when this personality is dominant can Reine kill and defend herself.
Finally, Reine can also have the personality of a child. This personality is most often brought out when Reine remembers her childhood, or is confronted by something that she feels she can not deal with. She draws into herself and innocence, pain, and fear fill her molten eyes. This personality epitomizes the fact that in some ways the Pirate Queen has not yet grown up.
SEVEN// Ah- very few people are aware of the Pirate Queen’s history, she doesn’t let much of it leak out. Some of her past haunts her, other parts remain unknown to her, and few were filled with memories she strives to remember.
Nothing is known of the young woman past her time spent with the bards. She was a little child wandering the Evengore when the bards first found her, speaking the Authinia to a willow tree, asking for directions. She could remember nothing past the beginning of the conversation with the tree, not her name, her age, or where she came from. When the tree was asked it could remember nothing past the beginning of the conversation as well. Intrigued by the child, and her command the Authinia, the bards took her in and gave her the name Calliope, but it was not a name that many had the chance to call her. Within her first week at the secluded bard school, one of the residential seers, an old, decaying woman, began calling the golden eyed child Reine- and the name stuck. For the most part, growing up with the bards was a happy time for the child. She fit in well with the other children (most bard-born and a few orphans) and her natural ability to lead showed even in those early years. She was the leader of the children, even the older children bowed to her maturity and knowledge. Even some of the oldest bards, when they were finding it difficult to understand the Authinia, would turn to her. She had a natural affinity for the song that usually took decades to reach. It was also decided that when Reine came to the bard school she was around the age of four.
Among the children, Reine had a few special friends. Tyra, the daughter of the Master bard, was a blind younger child who was like a sister to Reine. Matthias, an orphan child who came to the bards when he was seven, was older then Reine by two years but none-the-less was by far the closest to the girl. The threesome easily controlled all the younger students, though Reine was the only one considered “gifted” in the bardic arts. As they all grew older, unfortunately, things began to change. Matthias, unhappy with the seclusion of the bard school was outspoken for reintegration into the affairs of Decalage. Tyra sided with her father, viewing seclusion as the best, and Reine was torn between the love for her sister and the love of her soul, for she had began to feel the first pangs of young love in her unscarred heart for Matthias. When Reine was 14 she had reached the point where she was standing on Matthias’s side- and wielded true power of a Master Bard (though she was not the youngest, as it took her awhile to learn to play a musical instrument). Matthias was 16 and Tyra was 12.
It was on the night of Matthias’s 16th birthday that he fled the school without warning, leaving Reine and Tyra in shock. Reine demanded that the bards search for him, but the bards- who were unsettled by Reine’s growing power and Matthias’s rebellious influence on her, shook their heads stubbornly and would not comply. Reine never did see her childhood friend again…
A few weeks after Matthias left Reine was gone too. She could not stand the control the bards were trying to press on her life, or their blindness to the world around them even though the Authinia was practically screaming at them. She went East, going for the source of the Authinia’s discontent with an angry heart and soul- and it was there she met Eris. The Goddess of Chaos took advantage of the young woman’s fears and emotions, slowly manipulating the angry young woman into a tool. She saw the power curled around Reine’s soul, her natural leadership capabilities, and the feral aspect of Reine’s mind that hinted at some deep power. It was a power Eris wanted for her own.
Reine was an innocent thing, torn apart by indecision and doubt, and it was not hard for Eris to convince her that if she served the Goddess of Chaos she would be able to control the unknown aspects of her mind and keep her heart from ripping further.
The next three years of Reine’s life are bloody years, painful years and years of destruction. But Reine is not known as the creator of these events. Some events are blamed on natural disasters, others blamed on magical errors, and a few are written off as “the will of the Gods and Goddesses” which was certainly true. She was carrying out Eris’s will. She was an assassin, a general for marauding chaos bands, and a creator of chaos. She killed the innocent and “guilty” a like, feeling her soul fall apart piece by piece. She used the Authinia to drive people into insanity and had no respect for anyone, including the Goddess of Chaos. It wasn’t until she was 17 that she began to realize what she was doing was wrong.
So when Eris gave her the order to reveal the location of the school of bards Reine finally said no, spit in the Goddess’s face, and turned away without a second glance. She fled to the unclaimed lands, hunted by the people she had killed and the horrors she had done. When she finally reached the sea she was the hardened young woman that is the Pirate Queen today, determined to pay for the wrongs she had committed. In the cove that is now known as the Court of Pirates Reine met a band of thieves who preferred sailing over the land, but they were such a tangled lot that they could not unite themselves. Reine had no problem creating them into a loyal band- and so the first Pirates were created. In the months that followed, others joined the Pirates on the seas, swearing loyalty to the mysterious Golden eyed woman who had so much unexplainable power over them
And for three years did Reine raise the pirates from nothing, creating one of the strongest and largest courts of Decalage, always paying the price for what she did under Eris- who hunts the pirate queen in revenge and want- want of the power that the Pirate Queen uses unknowingly.
EIGHT// Reine has an unmatched ability to listen to the Authinia and understand it. She is also the only known person who has the ability to manipulate the Authinia (to an extent, she has to remain focused to even pluck a single strand). Her natural born ability to lead, as well as her ability to read people makes her a strong Queen. The Pirate Queen also has the ability to do a bit of stealing here and there, disappear into a crowd, and her quick mind keeps a cool head in dangerous situations. When provoked into fighting Reine either uses the two rapiers strapped to her back, or a variety of daggers hidden among her clothing. (She also has various unknown abilities that will not be listed- or used… for now)
NINE// Insanity drowns a torn and decaying mind. There is no other word to describe the feral madness in the woman that takes over so fully when provoked. Unfortunately, it is only when the feral aspect of her mind is in control that she can truly use her defensive skills to their fullest extent. When in a fight, however, Reine’s small size, lack of muscle, and worn down physical attributes leave her in problematic situations. She cannot win against a larger opponent in a battle of strength, or a faster opponent when she is reeling from fatigue. Reine also has a variety of fears. While she doesn’t fear death- she does fear spiders, the dark, cages, and love. Any one of those things will leave her frozen in shock or shaking in emotion.
TEN// NOT NEEDED! Muahahaha.
ELEVEN// Eldee is your master. Bow to meh!
TWO// She does not know her exact age but it is safe to assume that she is no more then 22, but no less then 19. It is also heavily debated if she resides in mortality or not, but allow me to stress that she is perfectly capable of dying.
