(Only read over what applies to your character if you would prefer not to read over it all)
The authinia is the center of all magic for Decalage. Some believe it is a song, others think of it as a material object. The world has lost it's ability to listen it's soul. Very few people actually have the ability to hear the song, not just the magic. Even the Gods and Goddesses have problems hearing and understanding the Authinia. It is a thing from before them, before creation. Lying in mystery, it is taught by the Bards and is known by the world, but can only be controlled by a few.
The Kingdom of the Light is a place filled with forests and waterfalls of the purest and greatest substances. It is beautiful, and is one of the most magical parts of Decalage. Creatures roam rampant, and even through times of hardship, the regions surrounding the kingdom looks like something out of a fairytale. Their economy is mostly magic based, but they also make a lot of money from the arts. Lately, however, there has been less profit for Lumiere as Fonce is taking over Decalage. Blonde, light skin and blue or green eyes are the stereotypical physical traits of the Lumierians. Part of the Evengore, the largest forest in Decalage, is located in Lumiere.
The people of Lumiere worship Vie, Goddess of Life, Paix, God of Peace, Bonheur, Goddess of Happiness, and Amour, God of Love.
The Kingdom of the Neutral lies between Lumiere and Fonce, so it has a mixture of both their lands and their cultures. The deserts and forests combine to create endless plains, perfect for farming. Lumiere¡¯s waterfalls end at the lakes here, which trickle away as streams and rivers to end up in the ocean. The people are mostly mixed blood of Fonce and Lumiere, but all have tanned skin from working beneath the sun as equals.
The people of Moyen worship Os, God of Humans, Equilibere, Goddess of Balance, Deced, God of Health, and Fourrure, Goddess of Animals.
Fonce is the furthest kingdom to the east. Its climate is that of a desert, with little rain and harsh temperatures. It was once bountiful farmland, until the farmers were turned into soldiers and the Authinia died into nothingness. Fonce is also referred to as the Kingdom of Dark, though the name was originally derived from the Gods and Goddesses Fonce worships. Slave trade is one of the leading departments of economy. The people of Fonce (Foncians) often are dark skinned from the desert sun with dark hair and dark eyes.
The people of Fonce worship Eris, Goddess of Chaos, Abrafo, God of Death, Lei, God of War, and Douleur, Goddess of Power.
The Unclaimed Lands are the areas of Decalage where those who ally themselves with no Kingdom reside. Though there are simple wanderers and citizens, the Unclaimed Lands are also home to the guilds and "unofficial" courts of Decalage. The pirate queen's rendezvous is hidden on the southern coast with easy access to a complex network of tunnels that go throughout Decalage. Wizards reside just north of the pirates with the witches just west of them. The thieves are on the border between Fonce and Moyen, hidden in the chain of mountains that separates the two Kingdoms and the Bards reside in the part of the Evengore that is in the Unclaimed Lands.
The Untamed Lands are made up of four valleys; each valley belonged to its respective group of Circia. However, there has been such a decline in their numbers though that the Circia had to form one group under one King and one Queen instead of four separate Courts. These valleys are largely forested with a clear river running throughout the Untamed Lands. It has varied landscapes from high mountains, canyon walls to the lush forests in the actual valley. Those who live in the Untamed Lands follow no deities.
They are the Robin Hoods of Decalage, stealing from the rich to give to the poor and down trodden, plus taking a few profits here and there. Traditionally they are known for being rulers of the ocean, but over the years have spread far and wide over Decalage, stretching from the Untamed Lands all the way to Fonce. If you are looking for buried treasure, or the end of the world, the best thing to do is ask a pirate. Their sign is a twisting dragon, most of the time tattooed or burned on, but for those who wish to be able to walk openly among civilians, the Queen is fine with having it just sewn onto a shirt, on a necklace, ect. They are similar to a court in the way they have a Queen, Reine Raconias.
Since the meeting of the Unclaimed Lands the thieves continue to steal, but they pick items which may help turn the war to their side. Their most recent accomplishment is the crown jewels of Fonce, a job done by none other than the thief king. Once believed to be a wuss and child, the Thief King now is one of the "wanted" persons of Decalage, right next to Reine Raconias. He and his band, still consisting of non-magic users, continue to fear magic (but not quite as much). Also known as 'The Robin', the thief king and his merry men are now targeting Fonce itself, hoping to deplete some of its funds.
These two Guilds are exactly alike, except for the fact one allows only females, and the other allows only males. Occasionally the witches will take in a warlock or two, but mostly they stay with the female type. Witches and Wizards are those who have magic, and almost only magic. They do not rely on a sword or a bow and arrow to get themselves out of a scrape. Mostly they keep to themselves, studying together and sharing spells, but sometimes one or two will travel out and realize there is a world after all.
The bards are historians and teachers, learners and students. They are the one of the only ones who continue to understand the language of Authinia, the language used before all, the language that created, and the tongue that all are born with, but most forget within seconds. The bards are fighting to restore order and teach everyone the history of Decalage so that the people of Decalage can learn from their mistakes. The school remains hidden in Evengore, and the bards travel throughout Decalage, singing, dancing, writing, and working magic by using the arts.
CIRCIA
The Circia are animals who can speak with humans who reside in the valleys of the Untamed Lands. Now the Circia have combined to make one court, for there are too few of them to have four courts. They and the bards are similar in two ways, until recently they have secluded themselves, and they are capable of speaking Authinia, but most choose to simply use Telepathy or their vocal cords. The Circia are capable of unbelievable magic, and in their ranks include such creatures as phoenixes, unicorns, and winged cats.
